ANITA and RFI join forces to promote intermodality

ANITA – the Confindustria association founded in 1944 that represents road haulage and logistics companies operating in Italy and Europe – has promoted ongoing, structured dialogue with RFI, the Italian railway infrastructure manager, subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane (FS), to test EasyRailFreight, the digital platform created by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana to promote intermodal freight transport through more effective integration of road and rail modes.

Continuous dialogue and the direct involvement of the most active member companies in intermodal transport have been the hallmarks of the collaboration between the two organisations over the last two years. A collaboration, as confirmed by RFI itself, that is extremely significant and has led to the imminent launch of the operational testing phase of the first module of the platform.

ANITA and RFI have jointly identified all the positive elements inherent in the creation of a digital infrastructure for intermodality such as EasyRailFreight: the promotion of intermodal services available on the market, the analysis of freight traffic flows, the registration and geolocation of facilities and related services offered, the reporting function for modal transfer incentives, and the construction of new door-to-door intermodal traffic relationships based on unsold timetable slots from RFI.

President Morelli thanked RFI for its attention to the association, in particular: “For constantly seeking the support of ANITA since the early days of the EasyRailFreight project. Over the last two years, we have had the opportunity to closely follow the entire process that will lead to the release of the first module of the “Vetrina dei Servizi” platform in 2024, and on which experimentation is now beginning, with our companies actively collaborating.”  He then concluded: “We have already shared our observations with RFI on the remaining modules of the platform, which are still under development, with the aim of ensuring maximum usefulness for its users, whether they are industrial clients or logistics operators that ANITA directly represents.”
